| Bupropion + Placebo or Bupropion + Naltrexone For Smoking Cessation | |||||||||||
| What is the purpose of the study?
This study is being done to test whether bupropion and naltrexone will help smokers to quit smoking more than bupropion alone. |
|||||||||||
| How often are the clinic visits?
Almost all of the study happens in the first eight weeks, with follow-up visits one, three, and six months later. |
|||||||||||
| What will I be doing in the study?
At each clinic visit you will complete several questionnaires asking about withdrawal symptoms, smoking satisfaction, mood, health and medication use. At four visits, we will collect a blood sample. You will be randomly assigned, like the flip of a coin, to receive either bupropion and placebo (a pill that does not contain medicine) or bupropion and naltrexone. You will take medication for 7 weeks (1 week before you quit and 6 weeks after you quit). |
|||||||||||
| Will I be compensated?
You will receive up to $250 for your time spent participating if you comply with all of the study requirements. |
