  • Men and women who are regular smokers

Sound like you?

Bupropion + Placebo or Bupropion + Naltrexone For Smoking Cessation
What is the purpose of the study?

This study is being done to test whether bupropion and naltrexone will help smokers to quit smoking more than bupropion alone.
How often are the clinic visits?

Almost all of the study happens in the first eight weeks, with follow-up visits one, three, and six months later.
What will I be doing in the study?

At each clinic visit you will complete several questionnaires asking about withdrawal symptoms, smoking satisfaction, mood, health and medication use. At four visits, we will collect a blood sample. You will be randomly assigned, like the flip of a coin, to receive either bupropion and placebo (a pill that does not contain medicine) or bupropion and naltrexone. You will take medication for 7 weeks (1 week before you quit and 6 weeks after you quit).
Will I be compensated?

You will receive up to $250 for your time spent participating if you comply with all of the study requirements.
